We have multiple projects because
there is so much to do for these communities. War and disease
have had their toll
on these villages-with your help we will build back what
they have lost.

Thailand’s capital
city is Bangkok, which is in Southeastern Asia.
This small country has a population of almost 70 million people,
half
of whom are
depending on agriculture as a way to make
a living.
Amidst the natural beauty of Thailand, lies
poverty, which has engulfed rural
communities.
Every day, little children and their families
are struggling as they have no constant
source of relief, but through the generosity and sacrifice
of charitable organizations and people like you, they have
a hope and a future.
Several communities are in a state of abject poverty and
in some cases, religion serves to reinforce local attitudes
towards the
needy.
 The local people in Thailand
are over 85% Buddhist.
One of our nationals we work
with shared that some
Buddhists believe that
orphaned children are only
getting what they deserve as a
result of being bad in a former
life. This is because they
believe it is the child’s destiny
to work it out and to do better
in this life and hopefully that
will change their future. In this type of environment,
it becomes even more difficult for a child to live and
survive with these roadblocks to overcome each day.
It is attitudes like these that Serving Our World seeks to redress, by
showing the children and the community love in action and offering many
opportunities
for education and skills training also by getting whole communities involved
in building a family around widows and orphaned children. Serving Our
World will pair children who are orphaned or abandoned with widows and
qualified, trained
teams, thus rebuilding a family unit for both the children and the women
where love and security are nurtured. This way, more than one need is
met and ultimately
the community benefits from our efforts.

East Timor is located in Southeastern
Asia, a small country with a population of less than one million
people.
In this country, roughly 60% of the natives are young adults
of whom 90% are unemployed. And for every
two people, one is illiterate.
There is no access to electricity or
clean water for a large amount of
Timorese. As half of the nation is
living below the poverty line, East
Timor was officially classified as
Asia’s poorest country.
A strong cloud of desperation hangs
above the heads of children and
families, unable to build a home for their loved ones or build a life for themselves.
Young Timorese children have to struggle daily to survive, with little or no
access to education, illiteracy grows, trapping the minds and futures of the
young natives of East Timor.
 Little children are abandoned daily
by parents who cannot afford to
care for them and some women have to run away from home due
to threatened violence, rape and
forced marriages.
Often called The Still Born Nation
or The Betrayed, the people of East Timor try to survive on an average minimum
wage of $500 a year. For some of us, that is a new suit, for
others, a pair of shoes. But, for a family in East Timor, that is their only
chance for survival.
These children did not cause the wars and yet they are suffering because of it.
Unless you and I do something for them today, they will live a life filled with
hunger, pain and uncertainty. These people still deserve a chance to build a
community that is safe and enduring.
The Serving Our World family strives to give them that chance. Please become
a part of our effort and make a difference.
